DryBond™ and gTouch: An Alternative Bonding Process - Make of a Highly Rugged Resistive Touch Screen
DryBond is a proprietary technology developed by ALP to bond two surfaces on two separate rigid substrates. Bonding agent is pressure sensitive adhesive free of yellowing problem and tested to sustain wide temperature range of applications. This technology is applied to generate our gTouch series of product, a highly rugged sunlight readable GFG resistive touch screen. In gTouch, a chemically strengthened 0.3 mm thin glass is laminated to the surface of a resistive touch screen, which equips the touch screen with a very durable surface. The resulting touch screen is resistant to dust, flame, water, scratch, and chemicals and suitable for applications in highly demanding environments. Our gTouch integrated display head assembly is proven to survive 2 oz steel ball drop test at 100 cm height. With proper backing glass sheet laminated to further strengthen the touch screen, the assembly becomes highly impact resistance and may also survive boot kick test.
Traditional Wet Bonding: Low Stress Acrylic Gel Bonding Process
ALP also offers the traditional wet optical bonding service. Bonding agent and curing are optimized to eliminate bonding stress. Some bonded units are qualified for avionic applications. The process is easily applied to integration of the touch screen with other functionalities, such as a heater or an EMI shield (ITO or micro mesh).
